Sparrow heads "Icons" in Concert"

A RARE opportunity to experience some of the big names in entertainment sharing the same stage will be afforded the public on Saturday, August 30th, in celebration of the 41st Anniversary of the nations’ Independence.

That’s when Randy Glasgow Promotions stages its production of “Our Icons In Concert” at the Jean Pierre Complex in Woodbrook, from 8:30p.m.

Heading the cast of “icons” is the acknowledged Calypso King of the World, The Mighty Sparrow (Slinger Francisco) and the premier ambassador of Caribbean music, Calypso Rose (McCartha Lewis). Others include four-time National Calypso Monarch Duke (Kelvin Pope), triple winner of the International Soca Monarch Competition Super Blue (Austin Lyons), the “Mozart of Pan” Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, the Carol La Chapelle Dance Group, Starlift Steel Orchestra and Roy Cape Kaiso All Stars.

According to Glasgow, these are just a few of the entertainers who have made sustained, outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry, that will be appearing on the cast.

“Negotiations are underway with several others, among which are other big names the public has come to know and appreciate,” he said. “Fans can also look forward to a number of pleasant surprises on the playbill.”

Lovers of comedy can also look forward to seeing top comedian Learie Joseph in concert during October, said Glasgow.
